Love hotels are special hotels comparable with a little fantasy to our back seats of cars in secluded and dark places.
In a love hotel in fact people go almost exclusively to have sex.
These places are frequented by people as diverse as young couples, married adult couples seeking a little privacy, prostitutes, gigolos, lovers.
One of the most sordid and worrying phenomenon of the last years of Japanese urban society is consumed mostly in love hotels: girls, aged 13/14 years and over, who prostitute themselves for sexual intercourses with adult people, to afford for example the most fashionable and expensive clothes..
All this is easy and safe, because the love hotels are 100% anonymous. Any documents aren't requested, nor you will be seen by anyone, since the room is chosen through automatic vending machines that show images of all the rooms available, or by an employee who is obscured behind a wall. Many rooms don't even have windows.
And if you get a call from your wife or anyone else when you are there, don't worry! Some rooms allow you to put background noise as if you were on the street, subway, in a penny arcade, etc., and tell lies so believable.
they aren't dirty or seedy places as may be the American motels that are seen in some movies, they're extremely clean and modern buildings, also frequented by many decent people.
Example of a nice love hotel room
Love hotels in Tokyo can be found in many areas, even in the suburbs, but there are some areas where you will find dozens of them, the most famous of which is certainly Dogenzaka
("Love Hotel Hill") in Shibuya, besides of course the areas of nightlife (Kabuki-cho, Roppongi, others)
The rooms of course are all double and generally quite spacious. They are equipped with bathroom with various toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, etc. ..). Most of the rooms also offer TV channels with pornographic, condoms and sex toys distributors.
There are rooms of all types, often very "colorful", more or less luxurious, and ready to meet any absurd perversion.
Just to name a few: jetted tubs, vibrating beds, rotating beds, sadomasochistic accessories, mirrors on the ceiling, sexy costumes to be rented, but also normal things like video games, DVD players, karaoke, snacks, drinks.
Very peculiar and absurd are the themed rooms, from the normal as reproductions of medieval castles, or spacecraft, to actual "sets" for maniacs. Some love hotels offer infact rooms furnished to look, for example, as hospital rooms, airplane cabins, school rooms, prison cells, and include costumes of nurses, stewardesses, police officers or schoolgirls, just to name a few.

How much they cost
Generally all the love hotels offer two options:
" option, which provides for the stay only for a few hours, and that has a variable price depending on the hour, from 4000 to 6000 yen. Some love hotels also allow economic short stays of half an hour / one hour for 3000/4000 yen;
" option, available from a certain time of night (generally from 10:00pm), which includes overnight accommodation, and costs around 7000/8000 yen.
I recommend this option to:
You can bring there the Japanese girl you just seduced. Beyond this, you may consider this arrangement even if are travelling with your girlfriend / wife.
The advantage is that you can sleep in central and also quite spacious and equipped rooms with a lower price than a hotel of the same level of comfort. However you can take the room only in the evening and during the day you have to leave your luggage in coin lockers. Try it maybe for one night.
I don't recommend this option to:
all those who don't travel with their partner.
I read somewhere on the internet that some love hotels may not accept gay couples.
