Where to stay in Osaka

Osaka is not an expensive city to stay, it is definitely much cheaper than Tokyo.
The best area where to stay is surely Namba, a neighborhood where you can't never get bored, both during the day and at night.

Recommended hotels

Chisun Hotel Shinsaibashi
Famous japanese business hotel chain, famous for its good value for money, its rates are usually quite low.
This Chisun of Osaka is located in a very good position, in the heart of Shinsaibashi, a few minutes on foot from Dotonbori, and just next to the metro station Nagahoribashi. Very recommended.

Hotel Kikuei
One of the best hotels in the city if we consider its great position at low rates. It is located just in the heart of Den Den Town, a few minutes on foot from Dotonbori and Namba station, you can find single rooms starting from 4000 yen per night. The quality of the hotel is of course not so high, rooms are very small and a little "old", but they worth the price they ask.

Hotel Hillarys
Good business hotel, 400 meters far from Namba station and 800 meters from Dotonbori. Very interesting are some additional services offered free of charge to guests. In particular, I point out the bicycle hire (yes, free), and a hot and cold drinks 24-hours corner (yes, free). Full breakfast is 31 yen per day.

Osaka Namba Washington Hotel Plaza
The Washington hotels are a very famous japanese chain of business hotels, these hotels usually have a good standard of quality.
In particular, this one of Namba is a very big building located in a good position, just south of Dotonbori, 900 meters far from Namba station.

Osaka Fujiya Hotel
This hotel is very close to Dotonbori, it is located just north of it, so also very near to the commercial areas of Shinsaibashi and Amerikamura, whereas Namba station is about 1 km far. Nearby there are also some subway stations. The hotel is a common japanese business hotel, small, clean and well-equipped rooms.

Capsule hotels

What are capsule hotels?

Asahi Plaza capsule hotel (Shinsaibashi)
This capsule hotel has quite cheap rates, it is located in a great position in Shinsaibashi area, just a short walk from Amerikamura and Namba, the most popular areas of Osaka. Moreover, it is very "gaijin friendly", they're accustomed to have foreign guests.

¥ 2800 per night. Book now

New Capsule Hotel Aldebaran (Shinsaibashi)
This capsule hotel is located in Shinsaibashi too, in a very convenient position, and costs even less than the Asahi Plaza.

¥ 2300 per night. Book now

Very cheap accommodations

The cheapest of all accomodations are obviously internet cafes (1500-2000 YEN per night), which can be found everywhere in the most popular neighborhood of the city.

In the area of Tennoji/Shinsekai you can find instead some hotels which offer particularly cheap single rooms (see below). To be fair, I have to say that it is one of the poorest areas of Osaka, there are a lot of homeless around and there is also a red-light district nearby, anyway there shouldn't any safety problem, Japan is probably the safest country in the world.

Hotel Taiyo
I don't think you can find in Osaka another hotel like this one, which offers single rooms for 2000 yen per night, with tv, air conditioning, refrigerator and wifi. Obviously the level of this hotel is quite low, but overall it is acceptable if it is used only for sleeping. This hotel is located a few meters far from the area of Shinsekai, and from Dobutsuenmae station, served by several lines (including the JR Loop line) so you can easily reach any part of the city.
¥ 2000 per night. Book now

Hotel Diamond
I don't know if I have to call this place "hotel" rather than "hole", the reviews on the internet are something crazy and I definitely would never recommend it, however, one night in this "hotel" costs almost like a breakfast of any other hotel, less than 10 euros per night. Take into consideration to stay here only if you are really moneyless and you aren't pretentious about where to sleep. Only for braves.
¥ 800 per night. Book now
