Tokyo Disney Resort

The Tokyo Disney Resort is a huge complex dedicated to Disney in Chiba, within Tokyo metropolitan area. Built in 1983, it was the first Disney theme park to be built outside of the U.S. and also the largest in the world after the two American giants in Florida and California.

The complex is divided into two different parks, the Tokyo Disneyland and the Tokyo Disney Sea.

Tokyo Disneyland

If you love Disney and its characters, or you find yourself in Japan with your children, spending a day at Tokyo Disneyland may be an excellent idea.
In any case, don't forget that it is an amusement park built with the aim of bringing "America" in Japan, I personally do not think it is one of the priority places to visit during a trip in Japan. If you have many free days, it's ok, it might be quite an experience, otherwise it's better to capitalize your few days in Japan to see much "Japan" as possible.

The park is divided into 7 "worlds":

Adventureland, Critter Country, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Toontown, Westernland, World Bazaar.

Tokyo Disney Sea

The Tokyo Disney Sea is another theme park, distinct from Disneyland, it was even opened many years later, in 2001.
This park, which has as its general theme water and the sea, is not directed primarily to children as the nearby Disneyland, but to all ages. According to many people, it is one of the most beautiful theme parks in the world (I generally do not really like this kind of places so I can not judge it well).

The park is divided into seven "harbors":

American Waterfront, Arabian Coast, Lost River Delta, Mediterranean Harbor, Mermaid Lagoon, Mysterious Island, Port Discovery.

Pratical guide, how to get to the Tokyo Disney Resort and map

The Tokyo Disney Resort is set on Tokyo Bay, about 15 km from the central areas of the city, in the territory of the dormitory town of Urayasu.

The main station in the area is Maihama station of the JR, served by the Musashino line and above all by the Keiyo line, which connects it directly to Tokyo station (14 minutes, 210 YEN). Two other useful stations in Tokyo which are served by the Keiyo line are Hatchobori station (interchange with the Tokyo Metro Hibiya line), and Shinkiba station (interchange with the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho line). In order to get to the Tokyo Disney Resort from any area of Tokyo then just reach one of these three stations (especially Tokyo station) and then change to the Keiyo line.

From Maihama station, you can reach Disneyland or DisneySea on foot (respectively 600 meters and 1.2 kilometers far), or take the Tokyo Resort line, a circular monorail line with 4 stations (every single ride costs 250 YEN, you can use SUICA/PASMO cards too):

-Resort Gateway Station, just in front of Maihama station, near this station there is a big shopping center called Ikspiari;

-Tokyo Disneyland Station, for the ticket office and the entrance to Tokyo Disneyland;

-Bayside Station, the nearest station to the waterfront, where there are some large hotels;

-Tokyo DisneySea Station, for the ticket office and the entrance to Tokyo DisneySea.
